Why is there a question?

LEVERAGE and POWER in negotiations. Sometimes it takes a Strike to make history. A lesson from 1960.

Will they or won’t they?

This is the question that, like the Barbie movie premiere, has been teasing us all summer long.

The WGA strike over sharing in the benefits derived from the exploitation of works and the use of AI has been on since May 2, 2023 when the AMPTP called it quits and decided to focus on talks with the Directors Guild of America (DGA).

On June 23, 2023, 6,728 members of the DGA members voted not to strike, but to ratify the deal negotiated by the DGA and the AMPTP. 87% voted in favor. 13% opposed the deal. A total of 6,728 members voted out of 16,321 eligible (41%)…
